How to use the state directory safely

State pages provide independent references for further verification. Availability still varies by location and record type, so a missing result is not proof that no record exists.

If you know a city, include it with the full name. City and state together are more useful for separating namesakes than either field alone, especially when professional or property information uses a local filing system.

If you do not know the state, start with the full name and compare location fields before choosing a candidate. A shared name by itself is not an identity match.

Consequential details should be verified independently or with the person. Recordwell organizes returned information; it does not turn an incomplete search into an official clearance or consumer report.

Can I use this for hiring or tenant screening?

No. Recordwell is not a Consumer Reporting Agency and reports may not be used for FCRA-covered decisions like employment, tenancy, or credit.

Can I remove my own information?

Is Recordwell an identity theft protection service?

No. We do not monitor credit files, scan the dark web, or restore stolen identities. Recordwell organizes information that is already available to the user.

What does Recordwell do that a manual search does not?

Which countries does Recordwell cover?

The United States is our primary market and coverage is strongest there. Searches by name work elsewhere too, but the depth of returned information varies by country.
