A people-search tool that shows its work

Recordwell is a people-search and digital-identity service for the United States. You give a person's first and last name, and we return one report — lawfully available records and open web information, matched and summarised, rather than a pile of raw results to sort through yourself.

A name is the only thing we take. There is no phone lookup, no reverse email search, and no username search, and that is a deliberate design decision rather than a gap we intend to fill.

Searching from a contact detail is how most of this industry works, and it is also where most of its harm comes from: it turns a number that someone gave a shop into an identity, and it makes stalking cheap.

Starting from a name keeps the product on the same footing as the person being searched. A name is what you already know about someone, and it is the thing people have always been able to look up about each other.

It also makes us honest about uncertainty. A name is ambiguous, several people share one, and a report that begins from a name has to show you the candidates rather than assert a single answer.

What a report contains

A report organises what is lawfully available under a name: connections to places over time, records that were filed publicly, business registrations and licences, and publicly visible profiles and mentions.

It separates people who share a name instead of merging them, and it says which details anchor a candidate to the person you picked.

Where something is uncertain, it says so. An unresolved result is a legitimate outcome, and we would rather show one than manufacture confidence.

Coverage varies, and a missing record is not evidence that nothing exists. Every report carries the status of what was and was not available.

What we believe

People-search has a bad reputation for a reason: dark-pattern billing, manufactured urgency, and the resale of sensitive data.

We are building the opposite, and the commitments below are the concrete version of that.

A full report needs a plan, and the price is shown before you pay rather than after you have searched.

Checking yourself is free, and removing your own data is free. Neither is a paid feature, and neither ever will be.

Sensitive details, such as the contents of a data breach, are shown only to the verified owner of the address they belong to.

Anyone can remove their own information from Recordwell without friction — see our removal page. We do not make the exit harder than the entrance.

Where our data comes from

We use lawfully available or licensed information together with open public web pages.

We do not use leaked databases, scrape private accounts, or bypass logins and privacy settings.

Where a record is published by an authority, the authority's own copy remains the thing to rely on. We point you at what exists; the original is what settles anything that matters.

Accuracy and corrections

The main risk in this field is not a missing record. It is the wrong person attached to a real one.

We treat every candidate as unconfirmed until at least two independent details agree, and we show what those details are so that you can judge them yourself.

If something we show about you is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it. Where the error sits in an underlying lawfully available information, we will say which record it is, so you can correct it at the origin rather than chase copies.

What we won't do

We do not sell leaked breach contents, scrape social networks against their terms, or provide vehicle-owner data restricted by the DPPA.

We do not offer monitoring of another person, alerts about someone else's activity, or any feature whose purpose is to follow an individual over time.

Recordwell is not a Consumer Reporting Agency. Our reports may not be used for hiring, tenant screening, credit, or insurance decisions under the FCRA.

If you are making one of those decisions, use a screening service built for it: those services give the person the notices the law requires and a route to dispute what is said about them.

Recordwell is operated by GRUNDLAGEN TECHNOLOGIE LTD, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus under registration number HE 434416 and incorporated on 17 May 2022.
